Redesign. Rebuild. Reclaim.

This week marks the end of an era for my local indoor kart circuit, TeamSport Bristol.
After almost 15 years, the track will be closing for a complete re-build, which promises to bring the circuit up to modern-day standards as well as (finally) getting a brand new fleet of karts. Since the TeamSport company bought out what was the old Raceway Bristol venue, the company has gone from strength to strength, seemingly opening new circuits on a monthly basis. With a recently re-furbished Cardiff venue, it was only a matter of time before they turned their attention to Bristol. Sure, there had been the odd lick of paint here & there, and the leaking roof & poor lighting had recently been fixed, but as far as I can remember, the track itself hasn't changed much since the original build. A select few regulars & myself were given a sneak peak of the new two-tier circuit design, & although on paper it's hard to get a realistic idea of what the track will be like it does look like it will remain a fast & interesting track.

This past week, I participated in my final 'Members' event on the old circuit, taking 2nd place after a 100-lap Indy 500 type event. I was glad to be able to claim a podium finish (just 0.685 secs off the winner) in my last race on this track, but for sure I'm looking forward to the challenge that TeamSport Bristol 2.0 will present. For the next month or so though I'll be kicking my heels while the circuit is closed, although a trip to the Cardiff venue as well as an event at Formula Fast in Milton Keynes should keep me busy!

I want to take the time to welcome you to my new blog by the way- I hope anyone reading continues to enjoy my posts, I always appreciate the feedback & I'll do my best to update more regularly as I feel my passion for karting & motor sport is on the rise, which goes hand in hand with my passion for writing about the subject.

I'll see you on the track!

Ben
